Melbourne Un-Pub Crawl Overview
Craft Cocktail Crawl Full Description
Start your tour in a small park just across from the Windsor Hotel. Why meet in a park? Your guide will custom build the tour based on which bars are best for your departure. Is it a hot summer night? A rooftop bar is in your future. Cold winter weekend? Then you’ll head to a specialty winter bar with flaming cocktails to warm you up.
The best part of this tour is that it’s small group, so you’ll always have a chance to meet other like-minded people. Your guide will facilitate a round of introductions — but then straightaway get you to your first bar. Before entering each bar, your expert local guide will tell you what to look out for, what’s special and other vital bits of information. All our bar tour guides are historic tour guides as well, so if you have any questions about the history of a venue, just ask!

After spending 30-45 minutes at the 1st bar, it’s off to the next one. Rinse, lather, repeat. The four bars we visit will all be distinct and memorable, but we can’t tell you where they are — for that, you’ll need to come on the tour!
After checking in with your friendly guide, the group will get together for an introduction. Here, you will get to meet your group and learn a bit about them and what they like to drink, because after all you will be sharing a few beverages together over the next few hours!
We will be walking between our venues, with the occasional tram ride (transportation included). Your guide will keep things interesting and point out some points of interest along the way, too. Make sure to wear comfortable clothing/shoes for a 5-15 minute walk between venues.
We will usually visit a selection of these venue types:
Repurposed Venues: Melbourne is VERY good at is making use of space – this is how laneways became so popular in the first place! You’ll find bars inside pretty much anywhere, like old loading docks of textile factories, corporate parking lots, gold rush apartment buildings, or Victorian money order offices – or all the above!
Shipping Container Bars: Making venues out of shipping containers is very on-trend these days, and Melbourne is ALWAYS on trend. Expect elaborate open-air shipping container venues complete with delicious cocktails, craft beer, and street art.
Hidden Speakeasies: You may also visit dark speakeasy-style bars – hidden under laneways or even behind or above pizza shops, other bars, or dumpling houses. Try a new elaborate cocktail in the sort of atmosphere you could expect back when alcohol was illegal.
Extra Things to Know:
Small Group Size
We run the tour capped at 12 to ensure a more intimate experience at each bar, with the possibility for one-on-one time with the ‘career bartenders’ and an atmosphere where it’s possible to sit and have a conversation with each other (and all fit inside some tiny venues).
Your guide will facilitate conversation between you and the bartender, so you can chat about what drinks you like or receive custom recommendations. They’re true mixologists who are skilled at and love what they do, and are doing it as a career. Most will be able to tailor a drink to your interests, or recommend one based on what you usually like.
Most bar tours advertise a low price but exclude drinks — not this one. Three premium drinks will be included with your admission as some food to line our stomachs — please advise of any dietary requirements in advance.
This tour is NOT a “pub crawl” in the traditional sense, with cheap shots/sticky floors/bad bars. This tour is an ‘alcohol experience’ where the focus is on the finer side of Melbourne’s craft bar culture.
Friendly, local guides

Craft Cocktail Crawl FAQs
We try and mix it up — from boilermakers (spirit + beer) to craft cocktails to a shot or two, we’ll make sure you get a good variety. Expect a value of around $80 spent on drinks.
Officially, your guide will clock off at 6pm when you reach the 4th bar. That doesn’t mean its the end of your night though — with a small group of 12, you’ll have 11 other new best friends to hit the town and explore the rest of Melbourne (we’ll even tell you about a bar that stays open until 7am!).
If we told you that, we’d have to kill you! 😛
Seriously though — the schedule changes regularly, based on the bars we think you will have the best time at. Rest assured that your guide will help you find your way back at the last bar, and we won’ t be straying outside the city centre.

Our team is made up of ex-European guides who spent their 20s bar crawling in top party capitals of Europe. We’ve been around the block, and we think the “pub crawl” concept could use some work. We’ve taken our favourite parts of pub crawls (meeting new people, exploring cities, having a few drinks) and removed our least favourite (hordes of tourists, watered-down “welcome shots,” hard-to-find tour leaders).
We think what we’ve come up with is a great middle ground, and we hope you’ll agree.
We cap our group size at 12 people to ensure each person has the chance to have a personalised experience with the bartenders and each other. Plus, some of our venues are too small to fit many more people inside!
Your guide will bring you to the best bars that are open on the day of your tour. We have curated a list of our very favourite venues, all of which are special in their own way, and the venues change depending on the day.
So, unfortunately we can’t promise certain bars, unless you book a private tour with us. In that case, we are happy to tailor the tour to your specific needs and interests, including but not limited bars of your choice. Book a private tour here!
Of course! We are happy to host private functions on our personalised private tours. These are 3 hours tours we tailor specifically to your group’s requirements and interests. We can host groups of larger than 12 — please contact us directly for more details.
At a maximum, we’ll spend 10 minutes walking between venues.
Of course! Please contact us with any special requests and we would be happy to accommodate.
